Mochai kottai (Lima dry Beans), Brinjal, drumstick kuzhambu (curry)
Ingredients needed:
Dried lima seeds (kayinda Mochai payaru) : ¼ kilo
Brinjal (kathirikai) : 200 grams
Drumstick (Murungakkai) : 2 no’s
Tamarind (puli) : in the size of a lemon (elumichai alavu)
Onion : 200 grams
Tomato : 200 grams
Ginger & Garlic paste : 1 tea spoon
Chilli powder : 2 tea spoon
Turmeric powder: ½ tea spoon
Corrainder powder : 3 teaspoon
Fenugreek : 1 teaspoon
Mustard : 1 teaspoon
Green chilli: 2 no’s
Oil : 2 table spoon
Salt : for taste
Green curry leaves : 10 numbers
Corrainder leaves: in wanted quantity
Method of Preparation:
Soak the dried mochai payaru during the night itself. In the morning, boil the mochai payaru and keep it aside. If you are going to use the fresh green mochai payaru then boil them directly and keep them aside. Cut brinjal into four pieces then then drumstick to be cut into small pieces.
Take a kadai, pour 2 table spoon of oil in it. Once the oil gets heated, add mustard, fenugreek, green curry leaves and toast them. Then to this mixture, add finely chopped onions. Once it turns into golden color add ginger garlic paste and then finely chopped tomatoes. Make sure, you keep them frying until their raw smell goes off. Now, add the below ingredients to the kadai.
- Chilli powder
- Corrainder powder
- Turmeric powder
- Mochai
Then, add brinjal and drumstick. Now add some quantity of water for these items to boil. Once it is 3/4th ready add the tamarind paster (puli karaisal) to the kadai and let it boil. Once the gravy thickens, if you like you can add a pinch of jiggery or just add salt to taste and turn off the stove.
You can mix it with curd rice, sambhar rice or just plain rice. Your treat is Ready, Go ahead!
