Ill-effects of Saturn and Mars cohabitation and the pariharam

V.G.Krishnarau, Astrologer

The navagrahas bestow their benefits, according to their position in an individual’s horoscope. A person’s life is more or less guided by the stars and their placement in his/her horoscope. You may determine the time and arrival of a baby in a nursing home, using the latest scientific instruments at your disposal, but it is the Unseen Force which decides where and in which woman’s womb a child should be born. We might gloat thinking that it is we who have timed the arrival of the baby, but that too is God’s decision. The ups and downs that the child will face in life are determined by the placement of the grahas in his/her horoscope.

Mars

Mars or Angaraka, and Saturn or Sani play an important role among the navagrahas. It is solely due to Mars that a person can hope to obtain name and fame and power. Mars has to play a key role, if one is to reach the highest rank in the military and police forces or to become a top industrialist. Similarly, Mars is in an exalted position in the horoscopes of the wealthy, top architects and big builders. It is also due to Mars that a person performs courageous acts.

Conversely, a debilitated Mars means that the person will forever remain in want, and, even should he become wealthy, his riches will dissipate quickly. Mars is also the reason why some people are short or quick-tempered. Since Mars is the master of the earth, he is mainly responsible for earthquakes and volcanoes.

Saturn

Saturn or Sani is the most important planet after Mars. He is known as Saneeswarar, as he did not spare even the great Easwara, Lord Shiva. Sani has the capacity to bestow wealth on a family for several generations. It is said about Sani’s movements that none has enjoyed continuously for thirty years. Neither has anybody suffered for thirty years at a stretch. This is because Sani takes thirty years to return to the same Rasi.

Astrological science dubs Sani as a dull planet. If Sani is ascendant in one’s horoscope, the native appears to be slack, and acts a bit slowly, even if he were a talented person. Sani tends to make an individual somewhat lethargic. Conversely, Sani is said to be weakly placed in the case of the physically challenged, especially those with a walking disability. One can go on and on describing Sani’s features, so powerful is he among the Navagrahas. He could catapult a poor man to a status among the super-rich. Conversely, there is no one to match Sani’s prowess in reducing a filthy-rich and powerful person to penury. In other words, he could take a person from rags to riches or vice-versa.

This is precisely how Sani acts in one’s horoscope: he can help a person no end, and also pull him down completely. Astrologically speaking, Mars does not consider Sani as his enemy. Sani, on the other hand, considers Mars as his arch-enemy. Naturally, Sani and Mars clash with each other, if they are in the same house in one’s horoscope. The resulting consequences are a bit less, if there is some other graham cohabiting in the same house with Sani and Mars. The residing house is very weak, in the absence of a third cohabiting planet to check the mutual dislike of Sani and Mars. We will presently study the consequences of Sani and Mars residing together in the different houses in different horoscopes.

Health is likely to be affected, if Sani and Mars are placed together in the Lagna/First house. The native is likely to face unnecessary confusion and mental stress. His reputation also suffers.

Sani and Mars in the Second house will result in friction between husband and wife. They will be embroiled in unnecessary wrangles, and could also suffer from eye ailments.

Misunderstandings and sibling rivalry are possible when Sani and Mars occupy the Third house. Throat-problems are also foreseen. Fame and status could take a beating.

In the Fourth house, Sani and Mars could retard educational progress. Vehicles could be subjected to constant breakdowns. One should be very careful during travels, and patience should be the watchword.

Children could suffer from illnesses and face obstacles in their educational career, if Sani and Mars are in the Fifth house. Litigation is possible in matters relating to ancestral property. Heart-related ailments are foreseen.

Debts could spiral out of control, if the two planets are in Sixth house. Disputes and enmity are possible. The native could undergo at least one surgery in his/her lifetime.

Marriage could be delayed if Sani and Mars are in the Seventh house. Quarrels and disunity are foreseen after marriage. Business partners could fall-out due to misunderstandings. Health of husband or wife could also be affected.

A confrontation with the government is on the cards, when Sani and Mars are together in the Eighth house. The native could face court proceedings for giving surety to a third party. You could become vexed with life. You could be given to uncontrollable bursts of anger, which could lead to more problems.

You should be extra careful while acquiring property, if Sani and Mars are in the Ninth house. Otherwise, you could land yourself in deep trouble. You could face problems during overseas travel. Relationship between father and son could be badly impaired. Your faith in God could diminish. Some might even refuse to believe in God.

Sani and Mars in the Tenth house could affect business prospects.  You could face severe competition. Those in employment could be deprived of promotions. You could face problems from your superior officers. You could also be stuck in a business which shows no signs of improvement.

Sani and Mars in the Eleventh house could cause problems for the eldest sibling. You should also be extra-careful while dealing with foreign contacts. You could even be forced to despair over your foreign contacts, be it a job or business. The health of the person could be greatly affected.

In the Twelfth house, Sani and Mars could be the reason for unending misunderstandings and litigation. A peaceful night’s sleep could be rarity. If you climb up a little, you could end up in a free-fall, so much that you would start hating life. Losses could mount. You should be very careful during long-distance travel.

Pariharam/Redemption

Pariharam/Redemption is possible only through a divine agency. You should be steadfast in your faith. Mars is subservient to Murugan. Sani is answerable to Lord Vinayaka and Lord Vishnu. Regular visits to Vinayaka, Murugan and Perumal shrines could certainly mitigate the ill-effects of Mars and Sani residing in the same house. You should not put a time limit to these pilgrimages. Worship of these deities should be a life-long affair, for those in whose horoscopes the two planets are together in the same house.

Those in whose horoscopes the two planets are sitting together would be well-advised to worship Lord Vishnu, Vinayaka and Murugan before embarking on anything new. Such a course would enable their ventures to proceed smoothly. You could be a great devotee of Anjaneya and Vinayaka, but those in whose horoscope Sani and Mars go hand in hand should never forget to worship Muruga, the Lord of Mars, and Perumal, the master of Sani. Kindly offer special worship to Sani and Mars, in any shrine that you may visit. Worship with sincerity.  Even those who might think of hurting you, could end up helping you! Worship and progress. My well wishes.
