Konda Kadalai Masala Sundal/Channa Sundal – Recipe

Ingredients

Black or White Channa / Konda Kadalai – 1 cup

Coconut – 4 tbsp grated

Salt – to taste

Ingredients for roasting and grinding:

Urad Dhal – 1 tsp

Channa Dal – 1/2 tsp

Red Chilli – 1

For tempering:

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Urad Dhal – 1/2 tsp

Red Chilli – 1

Curry Leaves – few fresh ones

Asafoetida – sufficiently

Method:

–Soak channa overnight atleast for 8 hours with water.

–You can dry roast and then grind the ingredients under “Ingredients for roasting  and grinding” into a coarse powder and set them aside.

–Pressure cook the channa until it tuens soft (for atleast 6-8 whistles).Keep aside.In a pan, heat oil add mustard seeds, urad dhal allow it to sputter. Then  add asafoetida,curry leaves and red chillies saute for 2mins.Then add the cooked channa and mix.

–When channa seems to be fried without water in it , add the grinded powder, coconut, wanted salt and mix well and cook for a minute.Swtich it off.

–Sundal is ready!!

NOTE:

— You can add quantity of coconut as you wish.

— You can use black channa or white channa for this masala sundal recipe.
