Worship Maa Katyayani on the sixth day of Navaratri. The 6th day of Navaratri festival is dedicated to Maa Katyayani, who is the 6th manifestation of Maa Durga.
Goddess is so divine in nature. Maa Katyayani has 3 eyes and 4 hands. She holds a sword in one left-hand and a lotus in another. The other 2 hands respectively show protecting and allowing actions. Her upper right hand is in Abhaymudra, and lower right hand is in Barmudra.
Unmarried women worshipping Mata Katyayini on the sixth day of Navratri sincerely will be blessed with the husband they have wished and prayed for. Also, the Goddess would remove any obstacles that delays the marriage.To get God Krishna as a husband gopis worship Maa Katyayani. So she is established as the Queen of Vraj.
Once there was a great sage named ‘Katyayan’. He was a great devotee of Sri Devi Durga and it was his wish that Maa Durga to take birth as his daughter. So, he performed stubborn penance for several years to please the Gods. Goddess Durga accepted and accomplished his wish. At home of Rishi Katyayan, Devi Durga was born as his daughter. Since she was born to Katyayan, she was called Katyayani. As per Hindu Mythology, it is said that Goddess Durga came as the daughter of Maharishi Katyayan, in the form of Maa Katayayini to destroy the demon Mahishasura.
Maa also blesses you with better health and wealth. By worshipping Maa Katyayani, you may develop great strength to fight all disease, sorrows and fears. In order to destruct the sins accumulated over your several lives, you should religiously worship Maa Katyayani.
